Linguistic Atlas of Dolomitic Ladinian and neighbouring Dialects, 1st part (Speaking Linguistic Atlas)
Speaking Linguistic AtlasChoose a volume of the speaking linguistic atlas:
Technical RemarksThe order of the sound samples accessible here is identical with the layout of the four ALD-I map volumes. A single click on any ALD-I map will load the entire grid of the Ladin Dolomites, which will appear on the screen quite quickly. The response can be made audible through placement of the mouse arrow on the number and/or the name of a specific measuring point (no click is required). The respective transcription will appear simultaneously in the upper left corner.
This usage mode corresponds to the one which has been used for several years in the VIVALDI - "Vivaio Acustico delle Lingue e dei Dialetti d'Italia" (directed by Dieter Kattenbusch & Carola Köhler, Berlin, Germany; technical concept: Marcel Müller, Freiburg, Germany).
Technical BackgroundThis website represents a universal framework for the representation of language atlases. The transcriptions as well as the respective meta-information are saved in a database and generated from raw data when accessing the website. The database also administers the organisation and conversion of the linguistic data saved in mp3 format. A Content-Management-System (CMS) is employed for managing the multilingual representation of the site's contents. Both the map and the transcriptions are shown by a Java Applet, which also serves as a link to the respective mp3-files.
